The Seniors Access London Team
mgatt

Hello! My name is Michelle Gatt, and I am the Director and Senior Care Consultant for Seniors Access London.  I have been working with seniors and their caregivers across Southwestern Ontario for 15 years.  During this time, I have dealt with the many frustrations and disappointments associated with trying to navigate and access appropriate care services for seniors.  I know how important it is to access the services you need based on informed decisions. I started this company with the intent of helping seniors and caregivers to easily access vital information about sourced services and resources available for seniors in the local community.

I am a passionate advocate for seniorŐs rights, and believe strongly that our seniors are our most valuable resource.  I sympathize with the plight of the many caregivers who have the responsibility of finding the best care for their loved ones, and I strive to provide access to the most reputable organizations in the local area, putting you in control of the care you receive.

Occupational Therapy is a profession dedicated to restoration of function and independence. Occupational therapists are registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (www.coto.org). Through assessment and intervention, Occupational Therapists help people to practically explore options and learn new skills with the goals of restoring and maintaining independence. They can assist with home management skills such as meal preparation, laundry and cleaning. They can provide insight into mobility concerns including wheelchair/scooter and transportation access while ensuring safety. They explore options for community living, socialization and leisure. Occupational therapists also explore options regarding environmental adaptations including home adaptations and ergonomic recommendations. Counselling is a profession dedicated to helping people to identify and address issues and concerns that relate to their emotional well being. Counsellors help people to explore their feelings and reactions to situations and opportunities with the goals of finding solutions and options that work for the person involved. Transitions often evoke emotional reactions which can be varied depending on circumstances. A counselor assists a person to discover the issues and to discuss the emotional pieces that go with them. Together, they work on finding internal and external options that help them to move forward while remaining in control.
